Satomi Kawakita Jewelry is a New York-based fine jewelry brand, founded in 2008 by Satomi Kawakita, a former professional diamond setter.
Satomi appreciates a mystique and unlimited beauty in the natural forms of gems, minerals, and metals. She always aspires to turn these materials into fine jewelry using her own approach. Her design combines her unique sense of beauty with impeccable craftsmanship, resulting in jewelry true to her vision.
Satomi Kawakita Jewelry uses only ethically sourced materials, and all of our products are carefully crafted by skilled artisans in our TriBeCa studio. Customers and visitors to our showroom can see how we create our jewelry through the glass doors leading to the workspace.

About the Designer
Satomi Kawakita is a New York City-based jewelry designer and a former professional diamond setter. She was born and raised in Japan. While growing up, she was strongly influenced by her dress-maker mother, who made most of Satomi’s clothes when she was a little girl. Satomi was fascinated not only by designing, but also by actually creating things herself. This passion led her to Saga Art College in Kyoto, Japan, where she studied wood, metal, clay and textile design/creation.
While in college, she encountered glass-blowing, and after graduating, she worked for the glass artist Takeshi Tsujino for a couple of years. After the glass studio closed down, she taught herself how to make jewelry with glass beads, and she started her own jewelry business and sold her pieces nationwide.
In 2002, she moved to New York City to study jewelry making at the jewelry trade school Studio Jewelers. Following her training, she began working as a diamond setter under the master setter Richard Scandaglia.
In 2008, she launched her own jewelry line, Satomi Kawakita Jewelry. Under her growing jewelry brand, Satomi aspires to create meaningful and timeless pieces that stay true to her unique sense of design. With each beautiful piece of jewelry that comes out of our studio, she is able to bring her vision to life.
